  • Optimize your screen: Lower screen brightness, enable auto-brightness, reduce the time before the screen turns off, and use dark mode, especially on OLED screens.
  • Use power-saving modes: Most phones have a “Battery Saver” or “Power Saving” mode that automatically restricts background activity, limits performance, and turns off features like “Always-on display”.
  • Limit connectivity: Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular data when not in use. You can also use Airplane mode if you don’t need a network connection. For better battery, consider switching from 5G to LTE in your phone’s network settings if you don’t need the fastest speeds.
  • Control background apps: Restrict apps from running in the background, especially those that use a lot of power like location services. Check battery-usage stats to identify and manage the most power-hungry apps.

For long-term battery health

  • Avoid extreme temperatures: Keep your device in a moderate temperature range, ideally between 16∘16 raised to the composed with power16∘ and 22∘22 raised to the composed with power22∘ C (62∘62 raised to the composed with power62∘ to 72∘72 raised to the composed with power72∘ F), and avoid leaving it in hot or cold places. Heat is especially damaging.
  • Charge smarter: Avoid letting the battery drop below 20%20 %20% and don’t charge to 100%100 %100% for daily use.
  • Enable smart charging: Use built-in features like Optimized Battery Charging or Adaptive Battery, which learn your usage patterns and manage charging to reduce battery aging.
  • Store it correctly: If storing your device long-term, charge it to about 50%50 %50% and keep it in a cool place.
